Visuals, I See What You MeanĀ  August 15, 2018
6:00pm- 8:00pm
Visual supports are used as an effective strategy that support children with a variety of needs and learning styles. Visuals assist educators to effectively; enhance routines and transitions, prevent challenging behaviour, increase understanding of expectations, and support communication. Participants will be encouraged to think outside the box in how visuals can be incorporated into every routine and transitions in your classroom by using universal design for learning principals as a guide.

Objectives for participants include;

  • An increased understanding of the importance of using visuals in the classroom to support all learners
  • Increased knowledge about different types of common visual supports and how to use them i.e. visual schedule, first/then strip, choice boards
  • An increased awareness of different resources and supports available to make and create your own visuals.

This session welcomes all supervisors and/or educators working in childcare programs, home child care settings and school age programs.
