Building a Literacy Rich Environment: Moving Beyond the ABC’s June 15, 2016
6:30pm – 8:00pm
How can Early Years professionals build an environment that supports an expanding view of literacy including oral, auditory, sensory, and visual experiences?  In     alignment with “How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years” we invite you to explore the many facets of literacy that occur naturally in your classroom, and consider how to foster and document communication in all its forms. This group centres around discussion questions, as we make explicit connections to the four foundations (Well-being, Expression, Belonging and Engagement) with a literacy lens. Participants are welcome to browse materials and share their own “literacy rich moments” in a conversation that seeks to generate ideas for fostering speaking, reading, writing, and making thinking visible in Early Years settings.
