The role of the Early Literacy Specialist is to support early literacy and numeracy development throughout Halton region by providing resources, workshops, seminars and consultations for parents, caregivers, and early childhood professionals.

Children are competent communicators from birth. Parents and caregivers play an important role in supporting children’s literacy skills into adulthood, by recognizing children’s needs and natural curiosity in the world, and responding to them.

The role of Halton's Early Literacy Specialist is to support early literacy and numeracy development throughout Halton region by providing resources, workshops, seminars and consultations for parents, caregivers and early childhood professionals. In addition, the Early Literacy Specialist works collaboratively with EarlyON Centres, libraries, recreational and cultural programs on projects and initiatives to support parents/caregivers and teachers.
